As much as I failed in motivating her to stand behind her product or her loyal customer I did manage to motivate her to do one thing: In an impressive display of speed and determination I’m quite certain she hadn’t used in a long while, she moved outside to dump my nearly new trimmer on the curb for me to see and scream obscenities loud enough for the whole parking lot to hear as I drove away.
The most embarrassing customer experience of my life
B. It supports a hometown entrepreneur.
I buy Craftsman hand tools exclusively and since the opening of the Pineville location any tool upgrades always came from this store. When my washer went out it came from this store. Same for my dryer, my mower, and my gas trimmer.
C. I thought it would offer me a level of hometown service that is not possible at the bigger stores.
I explained to the lady that I didn’t have one so she went through her files to find the transaction but could not. I was one of two customers in the store and there was a second lady tending to customer #2 who also apparently had a similar issue. The second employee finished with customer #2 and joined us to help solve the problem. Employee #2 explained to me that without a receipt she could not help me but and I tried to explain to her that I also bought a service plan and it would be in the computer but she refused to even try to look it up. To me she was only interested in getting rid of me as fast as customer #2.
As I left I was joined by customer #2 who expressed to me that she had a similar problem. We were talking about it as we headed for the door and about then employee 2 became loud and belligerent, I couldn’t understand what she was saying but I think customer 2 could because she was so upset that she began praying out loud!
I bid her a good day and went to my truck – what happened next amazed me.
A. It keeps my money in Pineville.
When we got our Sears store in Pineville I made a conscious decision to purchase all of the things for my home from this store because
I couldn’t help thinking if only customer service and loyalty motivated her the way spitefulness did.
About three months ago I bought a gas trimmer and I returned it for service because It wouldn’t start. I was greeted by a nice lady who asked me for a receipt. I am really bad at keeping up with receipts and that’s one reason I trust the Sears name – they usually have me in the computer.
Positive communication broke down and I decided to cut my losses and leave after expressing my dis satisfaction. At this time I also decided to leave the trimmer because it was useless to me and I was hoping that a more competent person would show up and be able to dig up the service plan.
I really thought that if I showed loyalty it would be recognized but that simply has not been the case.
